Antioch Police Nab Suspect in JC Penney Burglary Attempt of $50k in Jewelry

On Friday at approximately 6:05 am, Antioch Police Officers responded to a report of a silent alarm at JC Penney in Slatten Ranch in the City of Antioch.

While responding, it was being reported that several activation’s were occurring and the surveillance cameras were being taken offline from within the building.

Police set up a containment perimeter on the building and police and a K9 unit were able to take the suspect into custody after a search of around an hour. The suspect was located hiding behind a small wall above the ceiling titles.

Police say he was arrested and found to be in possession of several articles of jewelry from inside the store. Further investigation revealed at least two additional suspects entered, smashed the jewelry cases, and attempted to steal approximately $50,000 worth of jewelry.

Police were able to locate all of the stolen jewelry concealed in duffel bag inside the store. The two additional suspects were able to escape, but officers are continuing to investigate, and have good leads on their identities.
