At 9:15 pm Saturday, Antioch Police Officers and Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a canal off Cavallo Road in the City of Antioch.
While responding, a witness reported two people had exited the vehicle and fled the scene after the vehicle ended up on its roof in the water.
The man was later located at a nearby apartment where he lived and was placed under arrest for suspicion of a DUI—police also confirmed at the time of the crash, two young children were left at home alone.
Police said given the large skid mark in the road, the initial investigation was the man was driving at a very high rate of speed when he went through the fence and poles before ending up in the canal.
Contra Costa County firefighters prepared for a water rescue searched the vehicle and confirmed no other occupants were inside the vehicle which was submerged under water.
Arrowhead Tow worked to extract the vehicle out of the water.
Also, at the end of the video an example of what not to do when you see emergency personnel with lights blocking a roadway, you do not try and drive through the scene.

Did the second car get a citation??
I was getting gas at Loveridge and Leland when Station 85 was responding to a call with several fire trucks and EMT. Drivers virtually ignored them at the intersection, one truck had to come to a complete stop for about 15 seconds while the Befuddled Morons on their way to Walmart got out the way.
See what a total mess some fucking DRUNK can cause? I hope they nail his ass!
Wonder how young the children are.
