There have been a lot of crashes at the intersection of Buchanan and Somersville due to people running red lights. I avoid that area like the plague.

Imagine if the car that was hit was a motoecycle. That would have ended in a different way. Back to the point, there are way too many people disobeying red lights everywhere. The government should put more of those cameras in evey intersection that give you a ticket.

Buchanan and Somersville is a notoriously dangerous intersection and the APD traffic division should monitor it. People drive recklessly and dangerously there. There were many “near misses” that I personally witnessed.

I agree! There needs to be Street camera and a police presence at that intersection at all times. It wouldn’t hurt lowering the speed limit to 35 mph too.

Street camera at that intersection would be great. People run the red on purpose especially if they feel the light has skipped over their turn which I’ve seen that happen from time to time.

I had to drive in that area because there was no other way to get to my destination and, lo and behold … 3 people ran red lights while I was parked in a lot with a view of the intersection. People were honking their horns to alert the miscreants but to no avail. It was sheer luck no one crashed.

This is one of THE worst intersections for red light runners! The PD needs to have officers from the traffic division monitor it. Lots of speeders there as well. Catching the culprits and issuing hefty fines would pay several police salaries.
