Woman Arrested After Attempting to Shoot Suisun City Police Officer

by ECT

On March 7, 2016 at approximately 7:13 am, Suisun City police officers were dispatched to the Autumn Oaks Apartments, located in the 1400 block of Humphrey Drive, for a report of a female suspect, Desiree Hinton, 34 years, Suisun City, pointing a handgun at a newspaper delivery person.

When officers arrived on scene, they located Desiree, who by this time was arguing with another male subject and she was not armed. Officers attempted to detain Desiree, but she ran into her apartment.

Inside her apartment, Desiree reached under the couch, retrieved a handgun, spun around and pointed it at a pursuing officer’s chest. The officer grabbed the firearm and a struggle ensued, during which Desiree tried pulling the trigger multiple times and made threats about killing the officer. The gun jammed, though, and did not fire. The gun was retrieved from Desiree and she was taken into custody.

Desiree was booked into the Solano County Jail on probable cause for attempted murder with additional charges pending. Additionally, we would like to thank the Solano County Sheriff’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department for their assistance following the incident.

Sounds like nobody was hurt. That’s a good outcome; this could have easily resulted in serious injury or death.

Sounds like a caring citizen of Antioch.

Darn, a missed opportunity to protest!

No, john. This is not a missed opportunity for protest. This is the exact outcome protestors are saying they want as the common outcome. I commend the officer for working through this conflict without causing injury or death.

In the United States you are 55 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist:
