At roughly 7:20 am Saturday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was on scene of a six-vehicle accident on westbound Highway 4 at L Street as they were responding to another accident.
According to radio traffic, the cement truck nearly hit the fire engine and then flipped on its side and was blocking all lanes. CONFIRE quickly extricated the male driver. They also said that 1/2 yard of cement and 10 gallons of diesel spilled onto Highway 4.
At 8:22 am, traffic was being diverted off Highway 4 at A Street with an estimated freeway re-opening at 9:30 am

No wonder at 10:45am traffic was backed up at Tregallis/Gst light. Even all the backroads were completely nuts as I was trying to get my son to work at the mall.
Thank God for patience. It took me 40 minutes to get from Laurel Rd. to Hillcrest where all the Antioch roads were backed up. It took me an hour to get to Costco from Laurel for an 18 minute shopping trip.
