Tuesday afternoon at about 2:45 in Bay Point, a Deputy Sheriff on patrol noticed a wanted suspect driving at a high rate of speed on Waters Street. The suspect had several warrants for his arrest. The Deputy Sheriff conducted an enforcement stop on the suspect who did not yield and led Deputies on a pursuit.

The suspect’s vehicle collided with another car on Highway 4 causing a minor injury to that driver. The Deputy terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the suspect vehicle.

Later Antioch Police found the suspect’s unoccupied vehicle at Somersville Mall. Thanks to witnesses, Deputies eventually found the suspect hiding in a store.

The suspect was later booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

Information provided by Jimmy Lee, Director of Public Affairs Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff

Editors Note:

ECT picked up the call when Antioch Police spotted the vehicle in the parking lot of the Somersville Mall.

According to radio traffic, the Sheriffs Office was notified they had the suspected vehilce, however, it was unoccupied. They tracked the subject into the mall and the Sheriffs Office asked Antioch Police to stage at all the exits of the mall. Deputies worked with mall security and identified the subject on video running through the Macy’s store. They eventually tracked him to a store inside the mall and took the male into custody.
