Walnut Creek: Suspects Sought After Attempted Robbery at a Downtown Business

The Walnut Creek Police Department is asking for the public’s to identify three suspects who attempted to rob the OC Watch Company in Walnut Creek Thursday.

On April 20 at 11:58 am, Suspect 1 (described below) entered the OC Watch Company at 1507 Cypress St dressed as a construction worker and handed the store owner a clipboard.

Suspect 1 asked the owner to sign the form attached to the clipboard in order to shut off the power to the business. When the store owner looked down at the clipboard, Suspect 1 sprayed the owner and a nearby customer with pepper spray. Suspect 2 then used a baseball bat to smash a display case while Suspect 3 waited outside the store. Suspect 1 attempted to grab items within the display case but the owner was able to scare the suspects away before they could steal any merchandise.

All three suspects ran out of the store westbound on Cypress St and into a newer Dodge Challenger (described below) parked on Commercial Lane. The suspect vehicle then fled south on Commercial Lane towards Mt. Diablo Blvd.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Suspect 1 – BMA, 6’2″, wearing a white construction hard hat, dusk mask, black sunglasses, yellow reflective construction vest with a silver reflective stripe, grey long sleeved under shirt and jeans.
  • Suspect 2 – BMA, 6’2″, wearing a white construction hard hat, dusk mask, yellow reflective construction vest, orange long sleeved under shirt and jeans.
  • Suspect 3 – BMA, 6’2″, wearing a white construction hard hat, yellow reflective construction vest with orange reflective stripes, orange long sleeved sweatshirt and jeans. S3 was wearing a black backpack.

SUSPECT VEHICLE:

  • Black newer Dodge Challenger, silver rims with black paper plates
