Walnut Creek Police and Postal Service Arrest Three in Pittsburg on Multiple Charges

by ECT

On January 5 at approximately 4:20PM, Walnut Creek Police Officers arrested three in connection with multiple charges including identity theft and burglary.

According to Walnut Creek Police, they were surveilling a residence in the 200 block of West Buchanan Road in Pittsburg in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Amanda Bruntz for identity theft and burglary.

They say Bruntz, of Pittsburg, was seen leaving the residence in a vehicle, which was subsequently pulled over and Bruntz was arrested. At the time of the arrest, Bruntz was also in possession of additional items of identity theft.

Also in the car were Joshua Tanasescu and Michael Woodmansee. Tanasescu had a warrant for his arrest for auto theft and was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Woodmansee was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools.

Probable cause was developed to believe Bruntz and Woodmansee were involved in mail theft and the United State Postal Inspection Service was called to assist.

A search warrant was served at the residence (200 block of West Buchanan Road, Pittsburg) and large amounts of mail from throughout the county was recovered, along with additional instrumentalities of identity theft and personal identifying information of others.

All three subjects were arrested for the above listed charges with additional charges pending review by the District Attorney.

Walnut Creek has been experiencing a significant increase in mail theft recently. Please take precautions to secure your mail and personal identifying information.
