W. Cypress Rear End Accident, Possible Hit and Run

by ECT

Here are some photographs of Friday evenings W. Cypress rear end accident that sent one victim to the hospital as a precaution.  I am still gathering facts as their is some confusion as to whether or not this was a hit-and-run case as a vehicle involved fled the scene.

According to sources on scene, the vehicle pictures below rear ended another vehicle. The vehicle that was rear ended took off and was later found on Rose Avenue nearby. The driver was not in the vehicle.

Oakley Police Chief Bani Kollo shared he was still in the process of gathering facts from officers on scene but heard it was not a hit and run at that point in time.

The incident occurred around 6:50 pm  near O’Hara Park Middle School.

Update @ 9:00 am:
This was actually a three car crash where one of the drivers initially left the scene but later returned. The driver that left was scared and actually not at fault in the accident.

Its still a hit and run. It doesn’t matter who was at fault. If need be, I can post the CVC

I thought you had to stay at an accdient if you hit someone or have been hit. Did the law change and no one knew? LOL

Here it is straight from the book: CVC 20002 a HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT- Vehicle or Property Damage: Stop immediately at nearest location as to not impede traffic or endanger the safety of other motorist and do either of the following: (1) locate and notify owner or person in charge of the property, and/or driver of the other vehicle involved, of driver’s name and address and owner of the vehicle involved. When requested, present DL (if not avail, other form of valid ID) and vehicle rgstm plus proof of insurance as per 16025 (2) leave a note in a conspicuous place on damaged vehicle or property and notify proper law enforcement agency with the owner cannot be located.

Off to work!
