Update per CHP:

Motorcycle Fatality in Bay Point

This afternoon at about 1:50pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Alves Lane in Bay Point. Upon CHP and emergency personnel arrival, the motorcycle rider (32yr old male from Pittsburg) was declared deceased at the scene. The Contra Costa Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners office will be handling the release of the identity of the male rider killed.

In the initial investigation, it appears that the rider of the red 1992 Honda motorcycle was traveling southbound on Alves Lane, just north of Hill Street, at approximately 30mph. A 2014 gold Chevrolet Cruze (driven by a 42yr old male from Bay Point) just turned onto northbound Alves Lane from Medanos Avenue at only approximately 5mph, approaching Hill Street. The driver of the Cruze then made a left turn towards Hill Street directly in front of the oncoming motorcycle. The rider of the Honda motorcycle tried to avoid the Cruze but laid the motorcycle down onto the asphalt and subsequently collided directly into the front right of Cruze. The rider of the motorcycle sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in this collision and it is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed it or the events leading up to it, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980. Thank you.

We’d like to also remind all motorists to always be aware and look twice for other vehicles and motorcycles.
