The Antioch Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday morning that left one man dead and another injured.
The shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Lawton Street off D Street where one man was shot dead and another wounded twice who ended up running down D Street to Joe’s Liquor Store to call for help. The victim transported to the hospital is expected to survive.
A subject was detained at the scene, but police would not confirm if it was the shooting suspect.
According to a source, the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between two parties.
On Sunday, at 9:34 pm Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of a commercial fire at the same apartment building where an argument led to a subject setting furniture on fire outside the building. It is unclear if this was related to the shooting.
Updated Per Antioch Police
On 9/19/17, residents in the 300 block of Lawton Street called 9-1-1 regarding a verbal argument occurring outside between (3) men. It was reported that one of the men had a firearm and was pointing it at another.
Shortly afterwards, several calls came into the dispatch center that gunshots were being fired.
Witnesses calling in reported that one male victim was down on the ground, one male victim fled the area on-foot, and one male suspect remained at the scene that was armed with what appeared to be a pistol.
Several officers responded to the area and detained one male suspect who complied with police commands. Afterwards, officers began administering CPR to one male victim that was down on the
ground. The Fire Department responded and took over life-saving measures, but the victim was mortally wounded and passed away at the scene.
The male victim that fled on-foot ran to a local convenience store and was contacted by police. The victim sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported to a local area hospital. The surviving victim was admitted into surgery and is currently listed in stable, but critical condition.
At this time it appears that all the involved parties to this incident have been contacted, accounted for, and/or detained. The firearm allegedly used in this incident was recovered.

Sounds gang related by that statement.
Well its not gang related. Assumptions abound. This was my family. A father…a son…one died…one lived. Family disputes…but not gang related.
Not gang related. This was my cousin. A father. And his son. He did not survive but his son did. An arrest has been made.
I sending prayers out too you and your family. I’m glad you spoke on statements. People always think it’s gang related. Smh
Dispute the way it happen, I am sorry for your loss and the legal battles ahead. Blessings t your family!
So the son pulled a gun on his Dad? Wow. It might not be gang related, but the circumstances are pathetic.
Right
Not a gang. Quick resolution to family dispute.
