Updated: 6 Injured, 3 Airlifted in Critical Condition after Crash on Marsh Creek Road

by ECT

At 6:45 pm Tuesday, a four-vehicle crash injured six-patients with three in critical condition while shutting down traffic at Marsh Creek Road and Walnut Blvd in the City of Brentwood.

The incident required the use of all East Contra Costa Fire Protection District personnel which included three engine companies and its battalion chief.

Shortly after arriving on scene, Battalion Chief 5 immediately requested additional AMR units and medical helicopters—two of the AMR units were coming from Central County. In total, four AMR units and three medical helicopters were requested.

According to Jeff Burris, BC5, three critical patients suffered possible head and internal injuries which is why the medical helicopters were requested.

Just before 9:00 pm, the roadways were re-opened. The crash is currently under investigation by CHP.

I arrived at the accident scene within minutes of it happening; a wonder no one lost their life; police and ambulances had not arrived yet; debris everywhere; it was not at the red light of Walnut and Marsh Creek; it was located in between the intersection of Highway 4 and intersection of Walnut. I did not see the accident happen but because of the spray of the debris field, it looked to be a high speed impact-don’t know-am no traffic accident expert. Hope everyone recovers fully. Be safe out there.
