Updated: 16-Year-Old Dies in Vehicle Crash, GoFundMe Launched

by ECT

At 4:44 pm Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of an overturned vehicle crash at Reimche Drive and Desrys Blvd in the City of Antioch.

According to a witness, a vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when it collided with another vehicle.

At least 3-AMR  units were requested Code 3 to the scene.

Update:

According to the Antioch Police Department, a 16-year-old male is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local trauma center. Two other occupants who were in the same vehicle were also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time according to Sgt Matthew Harger.

Update #2

The 16-year-old victim in this collision passed away during the night. The preliminary investigation has revealed the victim was a passenger in a pick-up truck that was traveling W/B on Reimche Dr, well above the speed limit. The driver of the truck, a 19-year-old Antioch resident, remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and any witnesses are urged to contact the Antioch Police Department.

Yet another a**hole who’s right foot is not connected to their brain.

You have no idea of the situation so I would definitely keep your negative comments to yourself.

The driver was speeding down my parents neighborhood almost clipped my cousin and hit some kids playing basketball on the street it was a residential street and kid was going maybe 50 plus miles an hour

Meeshell Nov 3, 2018 - 2:35 pm

I meant almost hit some kids

Snooze Nov 3, 2018 - 5:38 pm

I just looked up the street and thought how fast could you be going crazy. If it’s not speed it’s running lights and stop signs. It’s not just kids. I live near a school that has church. Both the parents from the school and ones going to church run the stop sign all the time. Can’t even say what they have said when I have said something.

So insensitive, I agree with you Megan.

Always Right Nov 3, 2018 - 11:23 pm

Speeding!! What part of that was misunderstood. Right foot not connected to brain, makes sense to me. Stop being a donkey and accept FACTS.

Tania Enni Nov 4, 2018 - 1:12 pm

no disrespect Megan. but I live 4 doors down from the accident and speed was a factor, driver ran the yield sign and it happens a lot at that intersection of Reimche and Desrys. The car that had the right of way had the front of his car nearly taken off and he had kids in the car. So sad.

Penny Nov 4, 2018 - 4:48 pm

Thank you. My granddaughters were in the backseat of the white car that got hit but the speeding truck. Sad and angry!

If I were you I wouldn’t say stuff like that. You have no idea who the people are or the situation so i would just keep quiet.

So sorry you feel this way. But that’s my family who I LOST. Keep your insensitivity to yourself please. No one needs this negativity regardless of what happened. Realize someone lost their kid and the whole family is grieving. Thanks.

May the angels watch over this family please

Jason Robley Nov 4, 2018 - 9:39 pm

The truth hurts. Maybe if these kids weren’t cuddled in a “love bubble” they would have a better understanding of reality. With that said, I do feel great sadness for a youth who dies like this. My God have mercy on his family and his soul!

Nick Nov 3, 2018 - 9:01 pm

Being respectful is nice, but so is freedom of speech. If someone is angry, and they post a comment – so be it. The internet is not the place to find solace. That’s what family and friends are for. And a place of worship – religious people.

If anything ever happened to family and friends, no way would I be reading internet comments. It should be against your better judgment.

That being said, condolences to his family.

Jason Robley Nov 4, 2018 - 9:34 pm

Well said kudos for having the nerve to the post the truth!! If freedom does, so do we!!

Jason Robley Nov 4, 2018 - 9:40 pm

Jason Robley Nov 4, 2018 - 9:43 pm

Being a teacher I have to ask…what are the teachers at his school doing..or will do after yet another traffic casualty to the youth of Antioch. Tears come and go, but action last a lifetime!

Cousin of the deceased Nov 5, 2018 - 3:43 pm

Dear Jason Robley, You’re a teacher and you posted “good job” to someone who is being belligerent and spouting of THEIR TRUTH after a child has died? Some teacher….compassion wasn’t in your studies at whatever fine institute you went to, to get your degree. No need to comment, it will go unread.

Susan Edwards Nov 3, 2018 - 11:51 am

My deepest sympathy very sorry for your pain and loss.

Do we know the address of where this crash happened had a friend lived at 4404 15 years ago

Jack Nov 3, 2018 - 5:50 pm

This was very sad. No one deserves to die because they are speeding. I live on the street it happened on. It was horrible! Feel bad for all the kids that were envolded. Was heart breaking to hear her call out to him as maybe he was taking last breath. No one should have to go threw whatvthe family and friends are. Sad day in Antioch when a 16 boy or girl passes. Just heart breaking.

Ipa Nov 3, 2018 - 8:57 pm

Feel terribly bad for the family’s loss. Too young to go.

Those at fault always seem to survive wrecks like these…..

MsKris Nov 3, 2018 - 10:38 pm

This is so sad. This could be any one of us or our loved one. Please please please…everyone….slow down, look twice, use blinkers….you can’t press restart.

Jabari Nov 4, 2018 - 3:05 pm

I litterally just seen him wtf ?….

Sondra C Nov 4, 2018 - 6:21 pm

Be very careful about what you say.. the boy who passed away was like family to me and he was not the one who was driving so these negative comments are uncalled for.. And even if he was no one deserve such hateful comments. This boy was the sweetest, most respectful, most kind teenager I have ever met.. I have known his father since I was a child and the family and friends are hurting greatly. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say shit at all. Thank you!!

Jason Robley Nov 4, 2018 - 9:31 pm

This Is a tragic, and unfortunately all too familiar story, that seems to always find a home in our local newspapers. It cannot be said enough that’s speed kills. With that said, we have all been a teenager at one time and have made mistakes. Let us pray for the family and especially the soul of a young man who made a fatal “mistake.”

unbelievable. a concerned citizen Nov 8, 2018 - 9:55 pm

The young man wasnt driving.!?!?!?!?!?!?!? STOP JUST STOP What are you getting from this multiple people are urging you to stop.. and yet you continue. This is not a place for your opinion on safety issues go to a city meeting if you feel that strongly not sitting behind a computer speaking to people how you probably couldnt even look someone in the eyes and say. Just. Stop.

Blain Oksanen Nov 4, 2018 - 9:52 pm

I SEND MINE FOR THE LOSS NO YOU CANNOT PRESS RESTART…

SO THIS BRINGS ME TO THE POINT I WANT TO GET ACROSS TO EVERYONE. ALL THIS TIT FOR TAT IS RIDICULOUS AND EXTREMELY STUPID.

Just like it is when we let our emotions behind the wheel on our roadways become part of our driving. Is very easy to let our emotions control our right foot at the gas pedal and our emotions also control the actions that we make as we make those turns before those lights change and when those stop signs just come out of nowhere. I am the owner of a local towing company that works closely with the Antioch Police Department and various other police departments in the area. We have lately noticed a high increase in injury related accidents due to lack of consideration for others, emotional driving and reckless driving. The majority of these accidents did not include the use of alcohol or other drugs. A large percentage of these accidents occur because of drivers driving under emotional stress or emotional turmoil. It’s very easy for a person to begin driving under a large amount of stress and take it out on the road in front of them. This is a type of driving that we most commonly see in young drivers. The only way that I can say to deal with this problem is is to remind each other that maybe they shouldn’t drive and drive for them. Or advise them that maybe it’s not a good idea that they drive knowing that there are stress is high and the emotional stress that they’re dealing with could result in an accident being caused. Instead of getting upset with each other and making comments towards each other about things said on social media sites let’s find a solution to the problem and figure it out as a species on this planet. We have many challenges in the near future that we will face let’s not make driving something that we cannot figure out how to deal with the correct way. Thank you I send much prayer and love to the families that have lost their dear loved one. Let’s spread the word and let each other know and look out for each other as time goes on so that we don’t have to deal with another situation like this in our neighborhoods.

Seat belts anyone?

Janene Nov 8, 2018 - 12:07 pm

Why did the white Tesla take off after the accident and why didnt the white Tesla yield instead they went through the blind intersection. They were speeding as well

Janene Nov 8, 2018 - 1:49 pm

Why did the white Tesla leave the scene? Why sis did the Tesla not yield to the blind spot but ran through it? The Tesla was also speeding…
