Update: Wright Maintains Lead in Antioch, Alaura Extends Lead in Oakley, Pittsburg Race Tightens

The Contra Costa County Elections Office released updated results Thursday afternoon from the November 8 elections they continue to count votes leaving many races in suspense.

In Antioch, challenger Sean Wright (34.78%) has maintained his election night lead in the Mayor’s race against incumbent Wade Harper (33.79%) and now holds just a 229-vote lead. In the council race, it appears Lamar Thorpe and Monica Wilson each earned seats as they have a comfortable lead. Wilson has a 949-vote lead over Mary Rocha.

Other races are even tighter.

In Oakley, on election night Claire Alaura was just a single vote (1) ahead of Paul Seger who are vying for the third council seat. With the latest update, Alaura (12.58%) extended her lead over Seger (12.11%) by 93-votes. Michael Dupray (11.15%) is currently fourth and is 191-votes behind Seger. Doug Hardcastle and Kevin Romick will retain their seats on the council.

In Pittsburg, it had appeared Ben Johnson would retain his seat, however, after Thursdays update Johnson (25.33%) is just 29-votes ahead of Jelani Killings (25.19%). Juan Antonio Banales was the top vote getter with 26.82% of the vote (or 5,450 votes).

In the Town of Discovery Bay, Bill Pease (35.08%) will retain his seat. The second spot available is still up for grabs as Bill Mayer (23.11%) has a 45-votes lead over Mark Simon (22.45%).

The next election update will be released on November 15 before 5:00 pm–which at that time will still be “unofficial”.
