At 5:30 am Thursday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle crash at Marsh Creek Road near Deer Valley Road in unincorporated Brentwood.
A medical helicopter was requested after it was reported of a “bike” being 50-ft off the roadway.
By 6:30 am, the incident command was breaking down.
Update:
According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, firefighters located the victim of the crash, a San Ramon Police Motorcycle Officer had run off the road and crashed into a telephone pole.
The patient had moderate injuries from the crash and being thrown from his bike. He was flown to a trauma center. CHP is investigating. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this case said the deer.
This is just one more reason police officers, and fire should not commute with tax payer vehicles. I see this a lot and wonder who is paying the gas, mileage, and wear while commuting out of their designated jurisdiction. It’s not personal, I am very saddened by the accident and hopeful the officer recovers to one hundred percent.
@American – I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your comment. There are some essential reasons why certain sworn emergency responders commute using “*Code 3” equipped (*red lights & siren) agency-owned vehicles. I believe it should be up to each agency to ensure that a practical and clearly written policy is in place for this. The distance of the commute should be a factor. Also, this should only be done when truly necessary (not just for convenience.) The overseeing body for the agency (City Council or Board of Supervisors) should review and have input (with transparency and public comment.) Many personnel on special assignments do require 24-hour access to “marked” or “unmarked” emergency vehicles for responding back to the scene of a major incident within their jurisdiction immediately (responding Code 3). Motorcycle officers from most jurisdictions in Northern California have been allowed to take home their agency owned motorcycles for decades. However, you do point out some good concerns and this should probably be revisited by all agencies and their overseeing government bodies.
