Update: Sacramento Sheriff Seeking Public’s Assistance in Homicide Investigation

On Friday, the Sacramento County Sheriffs Office has asked for the public’s help in a homicide investigation after a victim human remains were discovered in the Mokelumne River.

On April 8, 2018, at 9:27 a.m. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 150 block of Brannan Island Road within south Sacramento County in regards to human remains being located by a fisherman in the Mokelumne River.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.  At the onset of the investigation, the age, race, and sex of the victim were unknown.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office and Sacramento County Crime Laboratory are currently processing and examining the remains for physical evidence that will likely result in the identification of the victim.  In the meantime, Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any current missing persons, or people who may be missing that match the following description.

The remains belong to a Caucasian female or a Hispanic female with a light complexion.  She would have been approximately 25-40 years old with shoulder-length brown or auburn colored hair.  Detectives believe she would have been 5’02” to 5’06” tall with a medium build.  The female had double ear piercings in each ear, however, there were no earrings present at the time of her discovery.  The female had a grey tongue stud with round ball ends.  She also has a noticeable gap (approximately 1/8″) between her upper front two teeth along with a similar gap between her lower two front teeth.

Detectives believe she may have gone missing sometime in the last month.
