On February 22, 2017, at 5:22am, Officers and medical personnel responded to an address on Lodge Drive for a man who was not breathing. Life saving measures were performed, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation has shown that the victim was involved in an altercation with a known suspect. During that altercation, the victim was stabbed.
Detectives were able to locate the suspect at an address in Pittsburg and he was placed under arrest for murder.
The Concord Police Department has identified the victim from the homicide on February 22nd as 53 year old Daniel Quast, a resident of Concord. The suspect has been identified as 41 year old Eric Martinez, a resident of Pittsburg.
Martinez has been charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon, and Probation Violation. He remains in custody in the County Jail. His Bail is set at $1,000,030.
