Update: Oakley Man Shot by Brentwood Police Friday Night

BRENTWOOD, CA – While responding to investigate a report of a reckless driver, the officer came upon a vehicle on Birchwood Road just off of Garin Parkway. The occupants in the vehicle were firing multiple gun shots in an unknown direction.

The incident occurred on Friday June 9, 2017 at 9:48 pm the Brentwood Police Department had an officer involved shooting in the 500 block of Birchwood Road.

The officer drove the front of the patrol car into the rear of the suspect vehicle in an attempt to stop the threat. The driver of the suspect vehicle rapidly accelerated, lost control and collided with a nearby house. The passenger (21 year old male from Oakley) exited the vehicle with a firearm. The officer fired his duty weapon at the suspect, striking his lower body with one round which prevented him from continuing through the neighborhood armed.

The wounded suspect surrendered on scene, was taken into custody without incident and remains hospitalized with a non-life threatening injury. His identity is being withheld until he is formally charged.

The driver of the suspect vehicle (Eduardo Plascencia – 18 year old male from Oakley) sustained minor injuries resulting from the collision. After being treated and released from the hospital, he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on felony violations of assault with a deadly weapon and shooting from a vehicle.
