APD won't admit we have a gang problem in Antioch Sep 18, 2018 - 7:47 pm

What does a 15yr old own thats worth stealing? Much less shooting him for?

I suspect we’re not getting the full story here. Likely gang related just like the shooting by Applebee’s APD called a robbery attempt. This ain’t 1992 and nobody gets shot over a pair of Jordans anymore, miss me with that BS.
APD calls it a robbery to skew the gang crime statistics. The family of the boy shot plays along because it’s easier to say your thug ass kid was shot over sneakers than to admit they were gang banging.

I get it might of been more than they said but u sound Pretty sure u know that they were hang banging or that he had something worth stealing. It is possible, but also very possible that he actually an innocent victim and i lived on D street until last year and now live down the street and people do get robbed and shot over someone assuming they are gonna get something and the victim doesn’t have shit for them. People are very desperate and ignorant now a days And will do dumb shit when if no gang relation or drugs or expensive shit is related. I literally witnessed similar cases a few times living over there. And the Apple bees murder, that was my son’s very good friend since elementary and it was actually a robbery gone Bad. The Kid who got killed was actually trying to break up an altercation with some punks that were trying to rob his friend for his shoes. Not only was his brother with him and witnessed this, but, they confirmed everything on camera. Im not trying to knock you, i get where u are coming from but, sometimes u gotta either get the facts or don’t treat every situation the same or think it went a certain way statically thinking. That boy may have very well been minding his own and some punk came and acted before thinking, or he could of been gang banging and or selling drugs, but nobody knows yet or at all and its not right to automatically assume. The only thing we should all be doing as a community if this violence bothers us so much is try and figure out ways to get things better. And pray for that boy who got shot.

I’m very glad that you are recovering. Don’t listen to these stupid people and their negative comments. Only you and the suspect know what really happened. You’ve been given a second chance at life so use these ignorant people’s negative comments about you as a fuel to be the best that you can. Prove them wrong!!

And the Antioch City Council is wasting time discussing changing street names? Investing in branding? The council should be focusing on more police services. Not worrying about how to put the best lipstick on a damn ugly pig which is what this city looks like!

Dale Sep 18, 2018 - 8:52 pm

Yes, i agree. There needs To be lights and cameras in the parks As that is where a lot of the crime is going down and originating from.

Mike Sep 23, 2018 - 3:19 am

Amen to you for getting your life together. Sometimes we all need to learn from our mistakes. We need to get together as a community and start raising and disciplining our children properly. Its starts a generation at a time.

Good kid, M.a.a.D City Sep 18, 2018 - 10:15 pm

Speaking of that Applebee’s shooting…..anyone get caught for that yet?? I mean with about 15 cameras in the direct area, they should have a pretty freaking clear view of a kid getting shot execution style in the head and who dun it. Yeah…APD is really on top of their game, I mean if not only justice for a callus murder, then how about letting the community know that a cold blooded killer is not just roaming free. Is this the Wild West? Are we turning a blind eye? I’ve already moved out of the city I was born and raised in…. but I have family that still lives there. Spin it however you want… Section 8 and the APD ruined a perfectly good city, and not finding murderers ain’t putting a good shine on this turd either. I’m looking at you Tammany Brooks!!!

Lol! YOC sounds so stupid! There is not even a “y” in Antioch. I lived in Antioch when I was 19 years old and it definitely had drug problems back then but NOTHING like it is today. It is heartbreaking how bad this city has gotten with crime and homeless. Gov. Jerry Brown certainly is not doing anything good for California by trying to protect these criminals instead of the citizens of California!!! The streets are filthy in Antioch now too. Looks like a “hood”. I would not be living here right now if I had another choice. I will be out as soon as it is possible!!!!

@Teamwork

Your description of the Applebee’s shooting and those involved are untrue. The boys who were shot were local Norteno gang members. This is fact no matter how you try to spin it.

Teamwork Oct 4, 2018 - 3:54 pm

@ another coverup. You’re a fucking idiot. I have known the family of victims forever from apple bees shooting and it doesn’t matter if they were in a gang or not, it does not make a killing ok. And that night they were not getting into any shit other than trying to help their friend who was about to be robbed. U don’t know the facts so back the fuck up assuming. Nobody deserves to lose their life, nomatter what walk of life they choose. and especially when they werent doing anything wrong. The camera’s showed that stupid ass.

Glad your OK…I have had two of my boys robbed at night in Antioch. Both went to the hospital for stitches. They just drive around looking for a victim.

Don’t listen to any of these ignorant people, they think just because we live in a “not so nice” neighborhood we are all thugs. They are all high and mighty living asshats that haven’t had to experience any hard times. Keep your head up brother and don’t let this stop you.

Ok Antioch used to be a very beautiful and safe high end city!! I was raised in the Pitts, so I know what I’m talking about!!! 50 years ago no gangs, 30 years ago someone would stop to help 2 drunk girls who got moms Toyota stuck in mud on hillcrest exit, and just offer help!!! I moved away, but my mom stayed and even she did not feel safe leaving Bay Point to go into Antioch!!!! What the hell happened to that beautiful place? I still have family there but Most have gone, went for a visit recently and had to change hotels as the one we booked was no longer in safe area??? How very very sad, not at all the Antioch of my memories

Raul Martinez Sep 26, 2018 - 8:48 am

You really want to hear the truth – the blacks came to Antioch and made Antioch ghetto. Glad I’m nowhere near those haters.

Julio Sep 27, 2018 - 9:32 am

My family has lived in Antioch since 1960 and have never been afraid to go any where in Antioch. Ever. Day or night. Antioch has always had a gang problem as had ALL of East County. Get real.

Lola Saavedra Oct 3, 2018 - 3:25 am

Talking with my great-grandparents and grandparents who lived in Antioch starting in 1955, they described an ideal city. No crime. No weirdos! Neighborhoods were pristine …. there was a Safeway and a drug store at Sommerville and Delta Fair .. and nice restaurants … then, slowly, everything started falling apart. Good businesses stared leaving and weirdos moved into the neighborhood which has Sunny Lane.. a gated community. A lot of construction was visible along Lone Tree and most of those houses were empty. Then people started moving in and letting their older houses deteriorate along with their former neighborhoods. Section 8 places appeared and everything went down the tubes. More and more Oaklanders became visible. That accelerated the demise. I’m glad I wasn’t around to see this. I do have relatives here … I visit … but I get so depressed seeing what happened to what was described to me as a very nice city.
