Updated: Two Stabbed Sunday Morning During Birthday Party in Byron

At 3:18 am Sunday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3400 block Camino Diablo in Byron.

Engines 59 (Discovery Bay) and Engine 52 (Brentwood) responded to the incident where they located two patients with stab wounds. One patient was suffering moderate injuries will a second sustained minor injuries—that patient refused medical treatment.

Firefighters requested a medical helicopter where a patient was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

According to radio traffic, a 6-8 inch knife was used with one victim receiving stab wounds to the back and head, second victim with stab wounds to the chest. Another source says this incident occurred at the end of a house party when people were leaving.

It’s not yet been reported if the suspect is in custody.

9:15 am Update

According to Jimmy Lee, spokesperson for the Conta Costa County Sheriff’s Office, the stabbing occured after a fight at a birthday party.

“An unknown suspect stabbed two people. One was taken to the hospital and another was treated and released at the scene. A perimeter was set up and and a police K9 helped in the search for the suspect. He was not located and is still outstanding,” said Lee.
