The rain’s gone, the mercury’s up – time to cool off in one of the East Bay Regional Park District’s 10 swim facilities. Here’s a wrap-up of what’s open, what’s closed, and how to learn more:
- Lake Temescal (Oakland): Open now for swim-at-your-own-risk. Lifeguards start April 30.
- Lake Anza (Berkeley): Open for swim-at-your-own-risk. Lifeguards start April 30.
- Contra Loma (Antioch): Opens April 30.
- Cull Canyon (Castro Valley): Swim lagoon opens April 30.
- Roberts (Oakland): Opens April 30.
- Shadow Cliffs (Pleasanton): Opens April 30.
- Castle Rock Recreation Area (Walnut Creek): Opens Memorial Day weekend.
- Don Castro (Hayward): Opens Memorial Day weekend.
- Lake Del Valle (Livermore): Opens April 30.
- Quarry Lakes (Fremont): Closed until further notice due to toxic algae.
Park District staff members test water quality at least once a week in our swim facilities, and post updates at www.ebparks.org and at the parks. Conditions can change at any time; please check regularly for updates.
The East Bay Regional Park District is a system of beautiful public parks and trails in Alameda and Contra Costa counties east of San Francisco Bay, established in 1934. The system comprises 120,000 acres in 65 parks including over 1,250 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and nature learning.
