Swalwell Responds to President Trumps Address to Congress

by ECT

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15), co-chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and Ranking Member of the CIA Subcommittee of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement Tuesday after President Donald Trump’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress:

“President Trump had a chance to be a unifying President to a country he has sorely divided. He missed that opportunity by a long shot. Instead, he continued to offer a lot of bluster about his grandiose plans, and even those who had supported him are starting to wonder if they’ve been sold a lemon. It was like listening to him read 100 of his tweets – an armchair address without details.

“Startlingly, the President this week said nobody knew that healthcare could be so complicated – something we all knew, actually – while he moves to dismantle the law that has kept millions of Americans healthy and financially stable. He plans to vastly expand defense spending, with a disturbing focus on expanding our already robust nuclear arsenal, while failing to explain how he’ll cut domestic spending without ravaging American lives. He keeps promising to unite us, but keeps dealing in divisive ‘us-versus-them’ rhetoric. He continues to dodge questions about his campaign’s and administration’s ties to Russia, and apparently will be the first president in 40 years to keep his tax returns secret.

“Before the address, I handed the President a letter from one of my constituents, a man who came here from Kuwait, served in the U.S. Navy, and raised a family here. He’s worried about the hateful rhetoric the President has been spreading about immigrants and about Muslims, and he wondered what to tell his wife and kids. I told the President he must address such concerns.

“I’m open to looking at where we can put Americans to work by restoring our nation’s crumbling infrastructure and how we can reduce spending on ineffective or duplicative programs. But the American people deserve a real, honest leader with real, honest plans on how to improve their daily lives, not reality-show lip service.”

Eric Swalwell is clearly out of touch. He is towing the line for the dribbling Democratic party. Too bad really, he is a nice guy with previous good intentions. Time to vote him out next go around, he and his party has become to blind.
We cannot tolerate those who put their party allegiance before the American people.

Adios Eric, it’s been nice knowing you.

Hatred fills Mr. Swalwell’s heart. You can clearly see this in his writing. He is so blinded by hate he writes “…the President has been spreading about immigrants and about Muslims…”. President Trump said no such things of Muslims or immigrants. President Trump words are illegal immigrants and Extreme Islamic Terrorists. The words do matter and there is a distinct difference. Only hate prevents one from seeing this truth.

Hey ETC or whatever you’re called, why dont you show what Republicans said? Fake news site just like CNN, boycotting this garbage liberal ran bay area trash

Just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t make it fake. It came from Swalwell = not fake. You simply do not like his opinion. And we share press releases from local elected leaders. If you want Republican press releases from folks around Contra Costa, elect them! We highlight what Baker does.

What a clown! He thinks Trump divided this country?!! Really, I think that was accomplished by the former administration and all the other leftist creatures like nancy pelosi. What a bunch of blind fools that take all truth and twist it upside down. My momma would call these folks “crooked as a dog’s hind leg” LOL

Eric Swalwell isn’t going anywhere — 73% of the vote in 2016. He accurately (and courageously) represents the majority of his district who want clarity and truth to prevail over the manipulation currently spewing from this administration.

Bill, you need to absorb the entire comment. “Too bad really, he is a nice guy with previous good intentions” key word “previous” as in the past.

While Swalwell may have enjoyed support in the past those numbers are dwindling rapidly as are with the entire Democratic party. They are digging a hole at an increasing pace.

People who are made up of all parties, dems and repubs alike have had enough of party lines and partisan politics. This alone makes dems like Mark DeSaulnier, Jim Frazier and Eric Swalwell a dying breed. Face it friend, they are not doing the few they represent any favors.

Next election expect to see more draining of the swamp.

Looks like Rep. Eric Swalwell is creating his own words against the President. President Trumps words to Congress were about “illegal immigrants and Extreme Islamic Terrorists” above you said “immigrants and about Muslims… “

Congressman: You have no idea what you are talking about. Unlike you, I spend a great deal of time with people who voted for President Trump and most all of us are happier than ever. In fact, as a person who retired after spending close to 37 years in Federal law enforcement and has many friends on the local, state and Federal level, I was proud and optimistic to hear a President of the United States speak out in support of the profession. This is far more than I can say for your own brand of courage. Your constituents need to know that I called your office a few weeks ago and asked the person who answered the phone your position on the hateful “art work” depicting police officers as murderous pigs that was hanging in the underground Capitol corridor. You recall the art-put up by one of your fellow Democratic colleagues and then removed the first time by Congressman Duncan Hunter. At first your assistant told me your office was unaware of the issue. When I expressed amazement at that, she said I could check your website. I assured her there was nothing on your website about it. Finally, she put me on hold and told me she would check. When she returned, her response was that you hadn’t adopted a position on the issue yet. It’s shameful you needed any time at all to think about a position on such a distasteful painting-especially considering your own family has law enforcement connections. Your dying political party’s concern is not that President Trump lost an opportunity to unify the country-it is an intense worry if he is allowed to do his job without harassment, hate speech and bullying, his success will pull the life support on a Democratic Party that has become corrupt beyond anyone’s imagination and is nothing more than a useful tool to the totalitarian and socialist misfits that now run your party and give you your daily marching orders. I suggest you spend some of your time finding out why former President Obama is organizing a shadow government in his walled off mansion in WDC. But the next time you decide to speak on behalf of those of us who voted for Donald Trump, here’s a suggestion-DON’T!

So exciting to have a young Congressman with fresh ideas that deliver for ALL Americans.
