Suspicious Car Fire Threatens Oakley Home Monday Night

by ECT

At 11:15 pm Monday night, the Oakley Police Department and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a suspicious car fire on W. Cypress Way in Oakley.

Fire crews rushed to the incident while on scene in Brentwood at a reported residential fire. Crews rushed to the W. Cypress Way after the car fire was threatening the home. Luckily, Engine 59 was already dismissed from an earlier fire and on route back to the station when they responded, Engine 93 was second to arrive coming from the Brentwood incident on Cedarwood Dr.

Oakley PD would not confirm on scene if it was intentional or if the victim was targeted, but there was visible spray paint with the word “rat” written on two vehicles. The incident occurred across the street from O’Hara Park Middle School and the  incident was open for roughly 1-hour and 51-minutes.

Police are still investigating the incident and if you have any information, please contact the Oakley Police Department.

Hopefully it wasn’t someone trying to do the right thing and fight crime in their neighborhood?!
