Suspect in Highway 4 Shooting Near Hillcrest Arrested

VALLEJO, CA. – On Sunday, November 13, 2022, detectives from the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Golden Gate Division arrested a suspect in connection with a freeway shooting that occurred on September 12, 2022, on State Route 4, east of Hillcrest Avenue in Contra Costa County.

Christian Sneed, 29, of Bethel Island was arrested in Fresno on November 13, 2022, for an arrest warrant related to this attempted murder investigation as well as additional unrelated charges by the Fresno Police Department. Detectives from CHP’s Golden Gate Division recommended charges for attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on November 17, 2022.

Sneed is currently awaiting transfer from Fresno County to Contra Costa County for arraignment.

On Monday, September 12, 2022, at 5:30 A.M, CHP officers assigned to the Contra Costa Area were notified of a freeway shooting on westbound State Route 4, east of Hillcrest Avenue. Officers located the victims, whose vehicle had sustained multiple bullet strikes, on the freeway in the same location. One victim sustained moderate injuries but survived. The other victim was not injured.

Original Story: CHP INVESTIGATES FREEWAY SHOOTING ON SR-4 IN OAKLEY

VALLEJO, Calif. – Detectives assigned to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Golden Gate Division are investigating a freeway shooting that occurred on SR-4 in Contra Costa County on Monday, September 12, 2022.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., the CHP’s Golden Gate Communication Center was notified of a freeway shooting involving two vehicles on SR-4 near SR-160 . Both the suspect vehicle and victim vehicle continued west on SR-4 until the victim vehicle, a GMC Terrain, was involved in a collision near Hillcrest Avenue.
The suspect vehicle, described as a dark colored BMW, continued westbound and fled the scene. Officers arrived on scene and determined the driver of the victim vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash while the passenger sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both parties were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Currently, no motive has been determined, and a suspect has not been located. Any assistance from the public in gathering additional details surrounding this shooting is appreciated.
