Suspect Arrested in Antioch After Alleged Kidnapping of Salesperson During Test Drive

On July 27, Concord Police officers were dispatched at 3:06 pm to the city of Pittsburg to conduct a stolen vehicle/kidnapping investigation involving a vehicle from a dealership in Concord.

The victim, an employee of the dealership, had managed to escape from the suspect to call police.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect entered the dealership and went for a test drive with a vehicle and employee from that dealership. While on the test drive, the suspect informed the victim that he was stealing the car and that he, the victim, was being kidnapped.

The suspect was in the city of Pittsburg where the victim was able to escape from the suspect by getting out of the car while it was stopped. The victim then called the police.

The suspect fled the area and was later apprehended by Antioch Police after a vehicle accident on Lone Tree Way just before 3:50 pm. The suspect fled the scene and later located on Mahua Way & Eucalyptus Way.

The suspect was arrested and later transported to County jail for Kidnapping, resisting arrest, and for stealing a car. The suspect’s identity has not been confirmed at this time and we are unable to release any identifying information.

According to Concord Police, this is still an on-going, investigation and no additional information will be released to the public at this time.
