Brownstone Gardens, Oakley, is hosting a open house on Sunday which is free to the public to use their facility as a backdrop for your fall photographs. For those interested, simply bring your own photographer between 4-8 pm and take photographs.
Brownstone Gardens recently began hosting photo open houses after several requests to use the facility for photo backdrops.
“We get lots of phone calls and emails asking us to allow people to take photos at our venue. While we want to share our gardens with everyone we have limited days and time frames to do that because of all of the events,” said Kay-Kay Hines. “It started getting to the point where we were constantly telling people it didn’t work in our schedule. Then we had the bright idea…. Open House Photo Shoot!”
She explained that there is always that one day in the month that does not get booked so they wanted to find a way to be accessible and give back to the community. Ultimately, the photo open house made sense.
“Open house photo shoots allow many people to enjoy a family photo shoot at the same time and it’s great for local photographers to host mini-sessions for multiple families and since they are coming to the same place the photographers can offer specials since they don’t have to go to multiple venues. We hope to be able to host one each month at our venue,” explained Hines.
One addition to the event is Your Vintage Affair Event Styling and Rentals who will be on site renting out photo props so bring some cash to be able to add to your photo experience!
“We are excited that Your Vintage Affair has partnered with us and will be renting out their photo props for our photo shoots at a very inexpensive cost. It’s hard enough to get the kids ready for photos much less remember to bring props with you,” said Hines. “They make it easy and fun! Oh and one more thing our photo shoots are always free entrance and always will be”
