Stockton Police Rescue 10-Year-Old Girl, 3 Others from Intruder; Suspect Later Dies

The following information was released by the Stockton Police Department after they rescued a 10-year-old girl and three others who were trapped in a bathroom by Filberto Valencia, a 26 year old man, resident of Stockton.

According to Police, Valencia entered a home and barricaded himself in a bathroom with four-females and was hurting one of them. Police were able to force entry into the bathroom where they observed the suspects arm wrapped around the 10-year-old’s neck.

Police say an officer was able to pull the 10 year old girl, who had visible injuries to her face, from the suspect and the suspect began to punch this Officer and grabbed for the Officer’s firearm. The suspect continued to fight with the Officers and a Taser and baton were deployed.

Officers were able to handcuff the suspect when they noticed he became unresponsive.

Officers removed the handcuffs and began CPR. When Medics arrived, Medics continued CPR but could not revive the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased on scene.

SPD NEWS: PROTOCOL INVESTIGATION UPDATE

The preliminary investigation indicated that on January 19, 2016, at approximately 6:11 pm, the Stockton Police Department received a report that a Hispanic male was trying to get into a residence in the 3100 block of Nicole St. Dispatch could hear people yelling in the background during the 9-1-1 call.

At approximately 6:13 pm, the reporting party stated the Hispanic male was walking around the house trying to gain access. The reporting party reported that the male told her that someone was trying to kill him and he ran off. A short time later a second reporting party from another residence in the 3100 block of Nicole St called the police and reported the Hispanic male was at their residence banging on the back door. The Hispanic male then fled onto a roof in the 3200 block of Nicole St. Multiple calls were then received about the Hispanic male trying to break into a residence on Nicole St.

At approximately 6:18 pm, dispatch received a call that the Hispanic male had broken into a residence in the 3100 block of Nicole St and was hurting a girl inside the residence. This location was a group home. It was reported the Hispanic male pulled at least one female victim into the bathroom at this location and was attacking her physically.

When Officers arrived at the residence they found the door was locked. One female from inside the residence was on the phone with 9-1-1 and advised the suspect would not let her leave the bathroom. Dispatch reported hearing a struggle and a female telling the suspect to stop hitting one of the victims. Stockton Police Officers forced entry into the residence and found the suspect barricaded in the bathroom with four females. The suspect was sitting on the ground with his arm wrapped around a 10 year old girl’s neck.

A Multi-Agency Protocol Investigation was invoked.

There best not be ANY Monday night quarterbacking about this and just celebrate that ALL the girls are safe from this nutjob! Ty SPD!
