Sheriff’s Office Issue Update in Tuesdays Highway 4 Homicide, Say its Gang-Related

by ECT

Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff are investigating a homicide that occurred last night in Bay Point.

On Tuesday at about 10 PM, Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to the area of Willow Pass Road and the on-ramp to westbound Highway 4 for a call that shots were being fired from a vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene and located several shell casing in the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office checked area hospitals for any possible shooting victims.  A short time later, Sheriff’s dispatch was advised that there were two gunshot victims  at a local hospital. One of the victims, a female, was later pronounced deceased. She is identified as 19-year old Patricia Ochoa of Concord.

The other, a male, is listed in stable condition.

Detectives are trying to confirm whether or not this homicide is linked to a homicide that happened Saturday afternoon on Highway 4 where 20-year-old Tomas Mendez of Pittsburg was killed.

They believe both homicides are gang-related and not random. The suspect in both incidents remains outstanding. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with other law enforcement agencies in an effort to identify the suspect(s) and find the motive.

Anyone with any information on these cases is asked to call the Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division at (925) 313-2600. For any tips, please email: [email protected] or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.

Unfortunately if this is gang related it is self mitigating. They tend to be focused on killing each other.

Damn shame.

Only part of the San Marco Exit is Pittsburg’s and the actual intersection falls into county jurisdiction and that is why The Office of the Sheriff took this shooting and the one on the freeway this weekend.
