Sheriffs Office: Do Not Leave Dogs in Parked Vehicles

by ECT

Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched at about 2 PM on Tuesday to a dog in distress at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez.

According to the Sheriffs Office, a dog had apparently been left in a pick-up truck for much of the day. The windows were opened slightly on a day that reached 106 degrees. The dog was clearly in distress and could barely move when Deputies arrived.

The Deputies immediately provided some water and were waiting for Animal Services to respond. The dog’s owner arrived about 20 minutes later and was warned about the dangers of leaving a dog in a parked car.

The Sheriffs Office is asking people not to leave dogs or any pet in a parked vehicle.

In Antioch, the police were responding to the parking lot of Applebees where they reportedly broke a window per radio traffic to get a dog out of a hot vehicle around 5:00 pm Tuesday.

Stockton Police K9 Dies After Air Conditioner Failure

The following information was provided by the Stockton Police Department FB Page on Tuesday.

It is with great sadness that we must inform you that one of our Police K9’s “Nitro” died this afternoon while at work. Nitro’s Handler noticed Nitro was having some type of medical issue likely due to the heat and the dog was rushed to a nearby Veterinarian Clinic where the dog died. This situation is obviously devastating for our K9 Handler and the entire Police Department is mourning this loss.

It’s such a shame you even have to tell people this. Those pictures break my heart. The owner should have been cited for animal cruelty or something. People, no living things in hot cars! Cracked windows don’t help!

The owner should have been left in the car for an hour or so with no water while they attended to the dog.

I agree these owners should be cited for animal cruelty at the very least. I don’t get why people do this. I am uncomfortable in my vehicle in less than 60 seconds, why on earth would someone think a dog would be okay? This should be a $10,000 fine.

Why wasn’t the owner arrested for leaving his dog in his truck on a hot day?

Why wasn’t the Cop K9 handler arrested ? No one knows until they investigate.

I bet you’d love to see cops arrested wouldn’t you? If you bothered to read the article, it said the dog died due to an AC failure, you tard.

Never mind the details right? Let’s just scream and tantrum until we get what we want, which is to kill a bunch of hard working, life saving cops.

Typical Oakland rioter.

Clearly they need a moderator in these comments because people can’t be adults and have civil conversations without being disrespectful. The majority of police officers are amazing but that doesn’t mean they don’t make mistakes and therefore deserve to endure consequences.

I’m not sure why the Stockton update was posted on this article but even if it says AC failure, it doesn’t make sense. Was he left in the car with the car running and the AC died? Was he in a building where the AC died and was left? Either way, the dog was left somewhere for an extended period of time, right?

Pointless

Your comments are disgusting and warrant no further response. Have a good life.

I agree with Nicole. Check on your dog. Don’t be a jerk in the comments section. Not all police are fine, upstanding citizens and at the least, they are subject to make the same mistakes the rest of us do because they put their pants on the same as the rest of us.

Nicole and Michele

You two are the type of people I would gladly call the police on everyday. I’ll sit back and watch as you two run your mouths off, not listen to directions, then eventually get tazed. LMAO

Then I see you on the news talking about how you were mistreated and abused. LMAO.

Just like an episode of Jerry Springer.
