Shadow Lakes Golf Club Eliminates Daily Play on Temporary Basis

by ECT

Shadow Lake’s Golf Club in Brentwood announced on its website that beginning December 1,  they temporary suspended daily play as a way to preserve resources.

According to the letter, this will enable the facility to address the state water crisis and focus much of our remaining resources primarily on Deer Ridge.  Deer Ridge will be open every day.

Here is a copy of the letter:

Dear Shadow Lakes and Deer Ridge Golfers,

As you know, the club began a course rotation schedule during 2015 in order to balance market demand with limited resources. This approach received favorable response and continued the club’s ability to effectively serve its valued customer base and the surrounding residential communities.

The well-chronicled California drought is having severe impacts across the state and regionally here in Brentwood. Significant water limitations and cutback directives were issued by the Governor a few months ago.  We have all been tasked to reduce our water consumption.  In addition, we continue to experience marginal demand for golf relative to available tee times across our two 18-hole facilities.

After months of study, we feel our customers and the surrounding communities can be best served at this time by limiting golf play to the Deer Ridge Golf Club and eliminating daily play at the Shadow Lakes Golf Club on a temporary basis beginning December 1.

This will enable us to address the state water crisis and focus much of our remaining resources primarily on Deer Ridge.  Deer Ridge will be open every day with its usual great playing conditions and guest experience.

During this period we will be attending to the Shadow Lakes golf course in a maintenance mode. A golf course attended to at this level consumes far less water. The Shadow Lakes course will be available for possible tournaments and other special events and we will continue with banquets and special events in the Shadow Lakes event facility. We will revisit this approach in 2016.

The fun and friendly staff at the club very much appreciates your patronage and support. Best wishes to you and your loved ones during the holiday season and here’s to a healthy and happy new year!

Please be sure to come by the club to take advantage of the outstanding Deer Ridge Players Program returning for 2016 by popular demand!
