Senator Harris on CBO Score: This Proposal is Downright Immoral

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris released the following statement in response to the Congressional Budget Office’s report on the GOP health care bill:

“We should make it easier for Americans to increase access to quality, affordable health care, not make it harder. This report confirms what we already know: the Republican bill kicks millions of Americans off their health insurance in order to provide the wealthiest in America with a tax cut. 22 million more Americans would be uninsured over the next decade including 15 million Americans next year, costs will go up for middle class families, and care will be in jeopardy for millions of seniors, women, children, and those with preexisting conditions.

“The priorities of this bill are backwards. It cuts $772 billion from Medicaid programs that help seniors pay for nursing home care, that support children with special needs, and that allow Americans to access opioid treatment. It causes millions of Americans with insurance coverage through their employer to lose coverage. It will make premiums go up an average of 20 percent next year and cause coverage to be worse. All while giving insurance companies and the top 1% tax breaks.

“This proposal is downright immoral. We must reject this bill and pursue meaningful, bipartisan improvements to our health care system for all the American people.”

  1. Your statements are just false and fail to show how obamacare is failing badly. You should be ashamed at your partisan propaganda and begin talking about what is now wrong with health care and how those items can be fixed.

  2. Until you can remove wealth from healthcare, the ill will continue to suffer and the healthy remain enslaved to the debt.

  3. Senator Kamala is another fake politician. Senator , how much can we save if you politicians have Obamacare care instead of your special medical insurance? Answer that one before condemning an attempt to fix what you screwed up for all Americans except yourself and your special insured swampers.

    • The “swamp” has no political party. Money runs politics in this country. It’s pathetic seeing adults even using the terms republican or democrat like it means anything outside of the classroom.
