Here is some good news for Senator Mark DeSaulnier who had been encouraging funds be provided to the Legislative Analyst Office so they could conduct a review of the new span of the San Francisco Bay Area Bridge. This had been a long battle that now appears over. The amount allocated is $100,000.
The following statement is from Senator Mark DeSaulnier:
“I am very pleased that the Toll Bridget Program Oversight Committee (TBPOC) has agreed to provide the Legislative Analyst’s Office the necessary funds to conduct a review of the new east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge,” Senator DeSaulnier (D-Concord) said.
“The LAO’s independent review of the eastern span project will put to rest any questions about the project’s previous peer review processes, without delaying the scheduled opening of the bridge. I commend TBPOC for providing their full cooperation throughout the review process. We owe it to the public to deliver a safe bridge that is opened on-time—funding the LAO’s review now will allow us to accomplish both of these goals. The cost of the review is a small price to pay for the biggest seismic safety project in the history of the United States.”
