The Pittsburg Police Department received a report that citizens were being called and asked to support Pittsburg’s Police Activities League (PAL). The Pittsburg Police Department, and the Pittsburg Police Officer’s Association are not affiliated with any outside solicitor organizations and do not receive any funding or donations from them.
If you receive a phone call asking you to donate, we urge you not to give the caller your money or private information. Unfortunately, scams such as these are common. On occasion, the Pittsburg Police Officers Association, commonly referred to as the POA, may call seeking support.
The caller will always be a Pittsburg Police Officer, and will provide his or her name and badge number.
If you are not familiar with the officer, we encourage you to ask the officer for a call back, then contact the Pittsburg Police Department at (925) 252-4980 and we will be happy to verify the officers affiliation with the Department.

Antioch gets this scam every now and again. They even argue with you. We give directly to PAL by handing it to them ourselves.
