San Ramon: Student Arrested With Knife, Police Discover Concealed Explosive Components

On Monday, the San Ramon Police Department responded to a report of a student with a knife on campus at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon.

Police say the 14-year-old student in possession of the knife was contacted and subsequently arrested.  During the investigation, the arresting officer found that in addition to the knife, the student was also in possession of muriatic acid, which when combined with other materials, can create an explosive detonation.

At this time, police are actively investigating the reason the student was in possession of this material, however; the student has been arrested.  The fourteen-year-old freshman was booked into Juvenile Hall in Martinez, Ca. for violations of PC626.10 (a)(1) – Poss. of a Knife on School Grounds and PC19100 – Possession of Concealed Explosive Components.

Police said at this time we believe that this incident has been contained and there is no additional threat to students or the school.
