San Mateo Murder Suspect Arrested in Redwood City

by ECT
San Mateo police announced Monday night that a murder suspect who has been on the run since Saturday was arrested after being spotted in Redwood City.
Anthony Kirincic, 22 of San Mateo, was identified as the suspect and had been on the run. On Monday, around 4:45 he was spotted by the SMPD’s undercover team. By 7:35 pm, he was taken into custody.
Here is the release from San Mateo Police:
On November 28,  at about 12 noon, SMPD Officers responded to the 1500 block of South B Street in San Mateo, to a report by a 34 year old woman that she had been stabbed. Officers and Paramedics made every effort to save the woman, but tragically she died at the scene. Officers began what they quickly realized was a domestic violence related homicide investigation, and identified the suspect as 22 year-old Anthony Kirincic, a resident of the San Mateo Peninsula. Kirincic was gone from the scene upon police arrival, and a manhunt was commenced to locate and arrest him.
Detectives and Officers form SMPD and allied agencies worked 24/7 over the past three days to pursue every possible lead, and conduct surveillance operations on places likely for Kirincic to visit. We cannot stress enough the outstanding effort of our SMPD personnel to continue this dogged effort in the days immediately following this tragedy.
At about 4:45pm on Monday afternoon, one of SMPD’s Undercover Surveillance Teams spotted a subject they believed to be Anthony Kirincic entering a home belonging to a relative in the area of Alameda De Las Pulgas and Massachusetts Ave. in Redwood City. Our officers immediately coordinated with the Redwood City Police Department to set up a perimeter and notified our investigators and the San Mateo North County Regional SWAT Team. SMPD thanks Redwood City Police for their quick action to help with a limited evacuation and immediate shelter-in-place as well as street closures to ensure safety of the public. SMPD, in Unified Command with NCR SWAT, SMPD Tactical Negotiators, Redwood City Police and Fire, and the CA Highway Patrol (air support) established a tactical operation and plan to take the suspect into custody. At about 7;35pm, Tactical Teams moved in and were able to safely detain and arrest Kirincic on the $5 Million Arrest Warrant for Homicide.
During the operation, SWAT personnel did deploy distraction tactics in the form of a flash-bang device for safety purposes, and we apologize for any noise disturbance this may have caused the community
Kirincic will later be booked into San Mateo County Jail. Again, this was a deadly act of Domestic Violence, and SMPD takes these types of crimes very personally and seriously. We seek to break the cycle of violence whenever possible, and know very well that continued abuse escalates in severity and greatly increases the possibility of a deadly outcome. For this reason, we have dedicated “Special Victims” resources in our Detective Bureau to address Domestic Violence head-on. We wish to remind our community that if you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, we urge you to contact local law enforcement immediately. We are here to help
