Road Widening to Begin on Balfour Road in Brentwood

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors awarded the Balfour Road Shoulder Widening Project to Graniterock Company.

The project will provide a wider roadway and shoulders from Sellers Avenue to Bixler Road.

The project will be constructed in two phases:

• Phase I includes Bixler Road to Byron Highway
• Phase II includes Byron Highway to Sellers Avenue.

During each phase, westbound traffic will stay on Balfour Road and eastbound traffic will be detoured via local streets. The contractor will start Phase II after Phase I work is completed.

Drivers can expect traffic delays due to construction.

The project is funded by the Discovery Bay West Traffic Mitigation funds. Work will begin in late June/early July, with completion expected by the end of November.
