Richmond Police Seek Homicide Suspect

by ECT

On April 12, 2018 at around 9:41 AM, Richmond police officers responded to the 200 block of S.15 St. on a ShotSpotter alert. Officers arrived and found 35 yr. old Mark Johnson of Richmond suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Johnson died at the scene from injuries he sustained.

RPD Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and conducted their investigation. They learned that Johnson was in an argument with another man just before he was shot. The suspect fled from the scene immediately after shooting Johnson. Although the reason for the argument is still undetermined, investigators have compiled several witness statements and pieced together who is responsible for the murder.

RPD Homicide Unit detectives have identified 40 yr. old Vernon Lamont Dowell of Richmond as the man responsible for the murder of Mark Johnson. Suspect Vernon Dowell stands 5’10” tall, weighs 170 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

There is a $1 million arrest warrant for Dowell.

If you know Dowell’s whereabouts, or if you think you may know where he is, please do not contact him as he is extremely dangerous. Instead, dial 9-1-1 or contact RPD Homicide Detective C. Decious at (510) 621-1747.

After spending the last couple of weeks doing a re-hab on a section 8 property I’d have to say that Baypoint if not more ghetto than Richmond runs a very close second, the people who live the ghetto life behave at a sub human level I’m just disgusted by it.
