Richmond Police Officers Disarmed a Sword Wielding Subject

The Richmond Police Department announced they arrested a man who was armed with a sword inside a local business.

Police say they received a call from a resident who reported an armed subject at a local business in the city’s Northern District. The reporting party told Dispatch that the suspect was armed with a sword. Furthermore, the suspect scared and threatened the patrons while he knocked things over inside the business establishment.

While Richmond officers responded, an employee of the business called to report that the suspect destroyed things inside the business and fled on 23rd St. Officers arrived and located the suspect with the sword.

Police said that through good communication and negotiation skills, officers successfully disarmed the suspect and took him into custody.
