Richmond Police Announce Arrest in Homicide of Discovery Bay Woman

by ECT

The Richmond Police Department announced Monday the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile male from El Cerrito for the alleged murder of Allie Sweitzer, 20 of Discovery Bay.

On May 18, 2017 at around 8:45 PM, Richmond police officers responded to Booker T. Anderson Park in the city’s Southern District for a ShotSpotter activation. While officers were on their way to investigate, staff at a local hospital called to report that a female suffering from a gunshot wound had just been dropped off.

Officers responded to both locations and learned that the victim, 20 yr. old Allie Sweitzer (pictured) was at the park and she was involved in an argument with at least one male. The argument escalated and Allie was shot. Unfortunately, Allie died from her injuries that night.

The case was assigned to Homicide Unit Detective C. Decious. He and the homicide team worked around the clock and persevered for the following weeks. Their efforts were instrumental in identifying the alleged suspect and an arrest warrant was issued.

On July 17, 2017 at around 6:00 PM, the suspect, a 15 yr. old juvenile male from El Cerrito was taken into custody in Richmond for the alleged murder of Allie Sweitzer.

In a statement, the police department said it was proud of the detectives’ teamwork and tenacity in finding the suspect in this tragic incident. We would also like to thank the FBI Safe Street Task Force for assisting in the investigation. They also hoped this arrest brings some closure to Allie’s family and that justice will soon prevail.

Editors Note – the original press release said 10:45 pm. Richmond Police have since issued a correction and stated the correct time was 8:45 pm.

Rest in peace.
Richmond police went above and beyond to find her killer. Shes white from a good area. Same department refused to open an investigation into The murder of Melvin James in Richmond, the difference being he was black and from the hood.
