Happy Easter from East County Today!
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend the return of the Bethel Island “Easter Frolic in the Park” event which included an Easter Egg hunt for children under 10 years old. The event had close to 70-people turn out.
Kudos to the Bethel Island Chamber for funding the event, but there are a few other shout outs that need to be credited:
- Good Scents Florist who filled 40 plus eggs with money ranging from $1-$10
- Bethel Island Woman’s Club donated the snacks
- Bethel Island Lions Club donated the drinks
- Bob Kenny was on hand representing ECCFPD, but provided fire hats for the kids
- Ardith & Ralph Wallace loaned decorations for the Park.
- And of course, the Easter Bunny arrived

Kuddos to the community of Bethel Island. They have always been very active with activities for the kids. I remember years ago receiving a set of books from the Women’s Club for Christmas. I still have those books!!
I think it is a wonderful thing to do so long as the real reason for Easter is not forgotten like Christmas has been.
Nice to see folks on the Island having a good time. I wish other communities would follow their lead.
