Replica of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Heads to Sacramento

by ECT

wall that heals

Although we first announced that the Replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is heading to Sacramento on February 27 all the way back in December, we wanted to remind folks to make plans to see this magnificent site. It is approximately 250 feet in length, and like the original Memorial, is complete with the 58,249 names of those killed or missing in action from the conflict.

Assemblyman Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) worked to bring the wall to Sacramento.

“On designated holidays, our nation pauses to remember those who gave their lives in service with ceremonies and parades, but that honor and respect must extend further,” said Assemblymember Frazier. “One way to honor the fallen and reflect on the sacrifices of those who served in Vietnam is to visit The Wall That Heals. It is my honor and privilege to host this event in Sacramento and to share it with the community.”

You’re invited to visit the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Museum coming to Sacramento on February 27.

The Wall That Heals exhibition features a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. It is approximately 250 feet in length, and like the original Memorial, is complete with the 58,249 names of those killed or missing in action from the conflict. The exhibition includes an accompanying mobile museum with information cases that display photos of service members whose names are found on The Wall, along with samplings of the 120,000 artifacts and remembrances that have been left at The Wall. The exhibits tell the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall and the era surrounding the conflict, all of which are designed to put the American experience of the Vietnam War into historical and cultural context.

Bringing The Wall That Heals to communities throughout the country allows the individuals enshrined on The Wall to be honored and remembered by family, friends, veterans and the public.

I hope you will be able to join us in honoring our nation’s heroes.
