Rep. McNerney Calls for Action on Gun Violence Prevention Legislation

by ECT

Washington – Today, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) participated in a sit-in on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to call for action on gun violence prevention legislation, and issued the following statement:

“My Democratic colleagues and I have had enough when it comes to Congress’ refusal to take commonsense, simple actions to reduce gun violence in our country. Together, we are taking a stand against gun violence in our cities and across our nation with a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives to demand that Speaker Paul Ryan and Republican Leadership allow a vote on gun violence reduction legislation.

“In the aftermath of the deadliest mass shooting in our nation’s history, Republicans are refusing to bring gun reform legislation before the House. It is unconscionable that many of my colleagues are content with doing nothing and instead are blocking a vote on bipartisan legislation that would help reduce gun violence and save lives.

“I hope that today’s sit-in shows the American people – including the victims and survivors of gun violence and the overwhelming majority who support commonsense gun laws – that there are leaders who are standing up to reduce gun violence and are fighting to actually make some improvement on this important issue.

“Our country has seen 1,000 mass shootings over 1,260 days. But sadly, mass shootings are only a sliver of our gun violence problems. Nearly 90 people die from gun violence each day – in neighborhoods and communities across the country, including my home district. But we don’t have to accept this. We don’t need to wait to wake up to another news report of innocent people gunned down before we can take action. We can fight for safer communities and a safer America by taking action now to pass gun reform legislation to expand background checks on all commercial gun sales and to keep guns out of hands of dangerous individuals, criminals, and terrorists.

“It is shameful that the Republicans are turning their backs on the American people who deserve a debate and a vote on these policies in the people’s House. Refusing to act does not make the problem go away. Too many lives have been lost. We must remain steadfast, and we must work toward meaningful reforms and fight for a nation with less gun violence.”

As of this statement, the sit-in is still happening on the floor of the House.

A Real True Thought Jun 22, 2016 - 8:15 pm

Hey Jerry,

You don’t represent me because I believe in the constitution, especially the 2nd Amendment. Here is some other facts: You have taken an Oath to up hold the Constitution of the United States, and that includes the 2nd Amendment.

So it is very clear you need to be kicked out of office based on the following:

1. Not upholding your oath, i.e., the 2nd Amendment.

2. Illegal immigrants. Not upholding the law, illegal is illegal.

Thus, you are a true Democrat! So Jerry, your attack on the Republicans is very sad. They uphold our constitution and they want to handle the illegal issues in the U.S. So to be a democrat is pretty easy, lie, attack the innocent, forgot the constitution, unless you are being questioned for a wrong doing — in my book, you are useless. I can sleep at night knowing I did vote for your two bit lying ass!

Jerry while you are waste time, energy, effort and tax payers money. In 1973, the LGBTQ suffered a huge loss, the cause was a fire. So, lets start a campaign to put out the fire – not more fires.

Hey Jerry, quit attacking the innocent people who follow the laws. Here’s a scary concept, do your job and not a puppet on a string!

Jerry, you can sit their till you rot. You don’t represent me or my right to bear arms. If shit hits the fan, maybe you will wake up and realize sit ins don’t stop terrorists. You and the rest of the libtards would have been the first to be led to slaughter during the nazi invasion. Maybe you should spend less time sitting in and spend a day at the holocaust memorial in DC. You might learn a thing or two.

Give up your rights, but don’t give up mine.

Hurray for libtards Jun 23, 2016 - 2:12 am

Pathetic. Yep libtards DID something…. Had a “sit in”. wow I’m so impressed.

Totally pathetic! I am so sick of all these supposed “leaders” acting like 2 year olds. I no longer have any confidence in government!! Why do people vote for these jerks???!!

Yes Libtard is the new name for these idiots. Here is a great idea, we should impose a law that denies ownership of a gun or any sharp objects if you represent or support the Democrat Libtards. These people can’t see the forest through the trees. I’ve never seen a gun fire itself so the term gun violence is incorrect, it is violence with a gun. What is the difference a Libtard would ask? Well, the difference is; violence is caused by the mentally unstable person (typically a Libtard) not the weapon of choice. If nobody has notice these acts of violence are often comitted by Libtards, registerd Democrats in a gun free zone. Even the daily shootings dip shit is refering to are done by gang members and government dependent people who vote these Democrat Libtards into office. Not one of these morons up hold the constitution including the Head Muslim in charge sitting in our White House. Donald Trump has it right, something is going on and it’s all wrong. Why are these Libtards letting in the enemy of our nation, working like hell to disarm America and remove Christianity from our schools. Wake up America!
