For those watching the Delta issue play itself out with the peripheral canal; you should take notice that the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee within the State Assembly has a new chair as the speaker appointed Anthony Rendon (D-Lynwood) as Committee Chair.

Speaker John A. Perez (D-Los Angeles) announced the chair appointment on March 21 prior to the Assembly Easter Break.  Redon is replacing former Assemblymember Ben Hueso, who was sworn into the State Senate. These appointments are effective immediately.

In the past as Rendon served on the California League of Conservation Voters. According to a post on their website, the group is excited about the appointment.

We are excited about this appointment by the Speaker because Assemblymember Rendon is an up-and-coming leader in the state capitol and a proven environmental champion.

Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) also services on the committee representing East County on water issues. Frazier also serves on the Delta Protection Committee.
