I wanted to bring some attention to the wonderful volunteer partnership between REI of Brentwood and the East Bay Regional Park District who yesterday teamed up for a few hours to restore the Hardy Canyon Trail at Round Valley Regional Preserve. Volunteers worked to repair trail treads, constructing drainage features and clearing overgrowth along the trail.
According to Karen Rarey, REI and the East Bay Regional Park District have done projects at Round Valley, Morgan Territory, Sibley, and twice at Black Diamond Mines over the last two years.
Rarey was pleased with the day’s activity and the effort of the volunteers.
“I’ve got to admit, the volunteers who come out to do trail work are probably some of the hardest working volunteers I’ve had the pleasure to work with – it’s generally hot, dirty and almost always hard work, yet everyone is out there with a smile and can-do attitude – just amazing,” said Rarey.
Kudos to everyone who participated and be sure to check out the slide show from yesterdays event which were provided courtesy of Karen Rarey.
