At roughly 4:45 pm Wednesday afternoon, Oakley Police and Contra Costa County Sheriff officers responded to multiple gunshots in the parking lot in the Oakley Plaza across the street from City Hall.

The incident occurred between Carpaccios Ristorante and Yogurt Island where police searched the parking lot for shell casings. It appeared that 5 to 6 shots were fired with one bullet hitting the building of the former Centro Mart Building where the new Halloween Store is located.

It’s being reported by one witness that an argument started behind La Costa in the parking lot where the suspects separated only later to result in gun shots being fired. According another witness, a red vehicle was pulled over on O’Hara and Main Street with multiple police cars surrounding the vehicle.

As of this morning, Oakley Police have not issued a statement about the shooting or provided any information while remaining tight lipped.

Anyone with details about this incident should contact the Oakley Police Department.
