Pleasanton Police Arrest Burglary Suspect who Assaults Officer with Vehicle

Pleasanton Police Detectives positively identified 27-year-old Christian Alexander Ayala as the suspect who struck a Pleasanton Police Officer with a vehicle as he was attempting to flee from a residential burglary on January 3, 2018.

A search warrant was executed at Ayala’s residence in Hayward. Stolen firearms, high capacity magazines, ammunition, stolen property, and methamphetamine were seized.

Ayala was arrested for resisting a peace officer resulting in serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamine. He has prior arrests for burglary, weapons violations and drug sales in the bay area.

The vehicle used in the assault of the Pleasanton Police Officer is still outstanding.

The vehicle is a gray 2014 Honda Accord (License # 7HGH558). The vehicle may also be displaying blue and white Hayward Honda dealer paper plates and an Uber sticker on the upper front windshield.

Burglary Suspect Assaults Officer with Vehicle
At 5:28 PM on Wednesday, January 3rd 2018, Pleasanton Police received a 911 call from a homeowner reporting a residential burglary in progress. The homeowner received a motion alert from his home’s security system and surveillance footage showed a male subject ransacking his home. Officers responded to the residence in the 700 block of Montevino Drive and approached the home where they he saw a man seated inside a newer model Honda Accord. The Honda’s engine started and the vehicle sped off southbound on Montevino Drive.

At 5:38 PM, a second officer located a vehicle matching the description of the Honda at the intersection of Montevino Drive and Crellin Road. As the officer exited his patrol vehicle he gave verbal commands to the driver to stop. The driver refused to comply with the officer’s commands and accelerated his vehicle directly at the officer. The officer was struck by the vehicle which sped away westbound on Crellin Road. Additional officers responded to the area and established a perimeter but the vehicle was not located.

The injured officer sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The officer’s identity is not being released at this time.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a Hispanic male with a round face and was wearing a black, flat-brimmed baseball cap. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model gray Honda Accord 4-door with a front dealer plate having a light blue background with white lettering. The Honda also had an Uber sticker affixed to the upper, driver-side front windshield.

  1. Too bas he didnt resist or show a weapon when they arrested him in Hayward, would have been nice to have him eliminated from this earth.
