At 10:50 am, Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of medical emergency on Highway 4 near Railroad.
Upon arrival, Contra Costa Fire Battalian Chief reported they had two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to John Muir Walnut Creek.
According to the CHP log, the suspect vehicle was a white car with a male Hispanic driver.
By 11:09 am, Contra Costa Fire were available on scene. According to the CHP, they were working on shutting down traffic in the westbound direction.
11:55 am Update:
Pittsburg Police Captain Ron Raman confirmed that a shooting did occur and that at least one person was transported to a local hospital.
Update per Pitt PD 2:40pm
Just before noon today Pittsburg officers responded to W/B Highway 4 near Railroad Avenue for a traffic collision. Our officers located a solo vehicle collision. A female adult driver and a male adult were transported to a local hospital; The female was pronounced deceased at the hospital and the male is expected to survive. Both occupants were suffering from injuries as a result of the collision and gunshot wounds. (The vehicle lost control and struck the dirt embankment and rolled over after the shooting.)
The victims were shot by a suspect in another vehicle travelling W/B on Highway 4. This appears to be a targeted shooting and the incidents leading up to this shooting is currently under investigation. Anyone with information relative to this incident should contact the Pittsburg Police at 925-646-2441.
We are working closely with CHP to increase safety on Highway 4 and we will also be seeking council approval, during the May 16th meeting, for installing cameras to monitor traffic on Highway 4.

What does section 8 have to do with anything ? Crime is everywhere around the world no place is safe from a corrupted mind . Your comment just shows what kind of person you are smh I’m an African American who has never ever been on section 8 graduated pay my own bills with no government help at all and I’ve never been to jail . You do realise what Antioch/Pittsburg/Oakley/Brentwood has become? I don’t care for these people. They chose the life they live and they bring this nonsense in to our cities. Not all Section 8 is bad but don’t be so blind to fact that low income brings crime, litter, homelessness, blight, thugs, and it’s a damn fact. Even more of a reason to bring back our death penalty. If the state would get the executions going and get rid of the 760 + death row losers in just California alone , it just might send a message you kill some one ,your next . We pay something like 90k a year for EACH death row inmate , sad we spend more on them then most of us make in a year. Better yet , let the victims family make the choice on the losers fate. Chp if you going to shut the freeway down. You need to close the on ramps. You also should have someone directing the traffic and getting the people off the off ramps faster. In my 45 years of driving in CA this was the biggest traffic problem I’ve ever seen Highway 4 westbound. is anyone doing any coordination or do you just do what you think is right cuz it sure was wrong.
Today i was coming home to Antioch from the Loveridge on ramp, and a latino or middle eastern man in sports ca .r decided to pass me all of sudden when the lane merged . then he tried to make me crash while i was driving. he pulled in front of me and i was going to exit L street, and i didnt get over until last min and what does he do? he cuts over the lane barrier and tries to get in front of me so i cut across back onto hwy 4 and he started to do the same thing again but thank god a CHP was coming up behind me and then crazy stupid guy sped off past A street. Some people think they own the world that we live in and act like they can do whatever they want. If i see this guy again trust me , i wont be getting out of the car unless he is under it

People have selective memories, about other recent crimes mass shootings in other areas ,That had nothing to do with Section 8 or low income whatsoever these were privileged kids who committed those God awful crimes for whatever reason because maybe they didn’t get to drive mommy or Daddy’s new car or someone gave them a curfew so please for all of you people who want to constantly blame crime rates on low income people what was that about with those kids given to much.
