Update: Pittsburg Police Catch Suspect in Winco Stabbing

The Pittsburg Police Department have announced that Anthony Jaramillo, 34, has been identified as the suspect in the Thursday night stabbing of three Winco Food Store employees.

Pittsburg-Stabbing-SuspectOfficers are actively looking for Jaramillo and  anyone with information relative to his whereabouts should contact the Pittsburg Police Department at 925-646-2441.  Jaramillo is considered armed and dangerous he should not be contacted.

Two of the victims remain in the hospital recovering from their injuries.

Police said Friday that the identification process was a direct result of partnering with our media outlets and a great example of working together.

Update –
Pittsburg Police announced just after 5:00 pm on Friday that they have taken Jaramillo into custody.

Detectives have been following up on tips provided by several members of our community as to the identity of the suspect in this stabbing. Based on this information, a possible location of Jaramillo was identified in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue; this is Jaramillo’s mother’s home.

Shortly after 4:00PM today an arrest team was in place and officers were preparing to search the residence.

As this was occurring, Jaramillo exited the residence not knowing that officers were outside; he was arrested without incident for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Jaramillo will be transported to County Jail and a criminal case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

The two victims are still recovering from injuries at a local hospital. The police department would like to thank and recognize all of the community members who assisted in identifying Jaramillo and providing information which ultimately resulted in taking a violent suspect into custody. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Original Release Thursday Night:

At 8:20PM, Pittsburg Police Officers were dispatched to a stabbing call at the Winco Food Store (2400 N. Park Boulevard). Three adult employees were contacted and found to be suffering from stab wounds. One was stabbed in the back, the other two were stabbed in the forearm area. Officers provided medical assistance and all three victims were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive.

The suspect in this case entered the store and stole shaving razors from the shelf. As the male suspect exited the store he was confronted by 5 employees; a physical altercation ensued and three of the five employees were stabbed by a medium sized knife. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving on scene.

This is an active investigation and officers are following up on leads, several police K9’s and a police helicopter are in the area assisting with a search of the immediate area.
