The Pittsburg Unified School District has announced they will be closing schools on Friday October 13 due to poor air quality. The District has also cancelled all athletic games.
Here is the message that went out to the District and its families.
Dear PUSD Families,
Due to the continuing poor air quality conditions, all PUSD schools will remain closed on Friday, October 13th. All athletic games are canceled for tomorrow.
Monday, October 16th is a professional development day for staff. All schools will open on Tuesday, October 17th.
This is a hard decision, as we know it places some of our families in a difficult position. Please know we made this decision with the best interest of the health of our students and staff in mind. While the air quality seems a bit better today, it is still predicted to be in the unhealthy range tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the air quality conditions and maintain and necessary ‘rainy day’ schedules next week.
