Updated: Pittsburg Police Respond to Vehicle Crash, Man in Critical Condition from Gunshot Wound

At 9:57 pm Monday, Pittsburg Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the intersection at W Leland and Southwood Drive after a vehicle had crashed into a pole.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of vehicle crash with rescue with a victim trapped and still inside the vehicle. Police responded and were first on scene to locate a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Firefighters then arrived on scene reporting a male victim was on the ground.

As of 10:10 pm, no further information was available.

On Monday evening at 9:58 P.M., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the area of West Leland Road and Southwood Drive in regards to a reported vehicle collision. Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle, which collided with a street pole within the intersection, occupied by a single male occupant. The male was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and found unconscious. As officers were providing medical aid to the man they found he had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. The man was transported to John Muir Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Pittsburg Police Department Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Based on initial information, it is unknown if the man or the unknown suspect who shot him knew each other. Detectives are currently contacting witnesses and obtaining additional statements. Additional information is not available at this time.

Because most people have common sense, he probably didn’t get shot for being a kind person but once your in a compromised position it’s sometimes better than being outed as a snitch. You live by the gun, die by the gun I guess
